I have decided that, because so many of the Trek epub novels are horribly formatted, I will only get them from the publisher, because they're DRM-free and I can load them into Sigil (...I need to get Vellum...) and make them readable.

I also wound up having to teach myself really basic epub formatting, BUT HEY.
