Even as a long-time Hark! A Vagrant fan and someone who'd sat with the first Ducks comic for a while, the full book really knocked me for six. The writing - particularly the voices - were top notch, and the art was really something special. I couldn't put it down for long, even when I really needed a breather.

I'm not from Cape Breton, but I am from another part of Canada that boomed and then went bust, and I was living in Edmonton with a house full of roommates working up in the oil sands around the time this was set. The book really captured something we don't see in media all that often.
