Avatar: why can't it be seven books, each thicker and longer than the last?

When I finished season two (this afternoon), I swore I'd pace myself through season 3. I mean, yes, it's one episode longer -- YES, THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE! -- but I don't want to suddenly find myself in a world without Avatar. Five-year arcs followed by increasingly dodgy TV movies and a short-lived spin-off: people should look into them. NOT THAT I WANT THE LEGEND OF KORRA TO BE SHORT-LIVED. I'm already freaking out at the promise threat that it will be shorter and more contained than The Last Airbender.

Where was I? Oh yes, pacing myself. Which I am totally doing, which is why I'm only six episodes into season 3.

If anyone can rec me some fic for when I'm finished watching, I'd be grateful, because I'm really not sure I can face a world without Avatar. Any pairing; I don't know yet whether I'd revolt at the notion of Aang/Ty Lee (for example). I think [personal profile] sohotrightnow was only joking when she mentioned Azula/Zhao babyfic, but I'd be totally down with it. Okay, Fire Nation fic particularly well-received. I ... feel like I should draw the line at Zuko/Azula? Only it seems weirdly plausible, in a sick, twisted and horrible way. Um. Yeah.

Oh, that reminds me: there's a comic that takes place between season 2 and season 3 that explains some of the changes. I spent a couple hours tracking it down for someone else. Do you have it already? If not, I can share!

I can't decide if I'm jealous of you actually having all of Avatar to watch at your fingertips or not. I mean, the ridiculous four-month waits between episodes and the will-it-ever-run-ever-again? was awful at the time, but it also raised excitement for new episodes to slavering frothy-mouthed heights. It is true: a world with no new Avatar is very, very sad.

I am definitely jealous of you being asleep right now, though. I should get on that myself.
