I expected, from the trailer, that we'd be opening the story a few months later, but we don't really get an explanation for how or why the Doctor is captured (or let's himself get captured, possibly to secure Canton's place as his mole within the FBI) or what happens in the meantime, except that the team split up and are running.

I think it was all a transparent excuse to get Eleven into the Robinson Crusoe beard.
