Two short, spoilery thoughts about "The Day of the Doctor"

1. If you had told me that there would be series of scenes that are just Billie Piper and John Hurt sparring, and that they would be amazing, I would not have believed you. Although now I'm bitter that Billie never got such good material when RTD wrote for her.

2. Apparently recognising Tom Baker just from the back of his neck is a superpower I never knew I had.

Feelings very positive, but also overwhelming, also I have a headache and a shoulder that's buggered. (Technical medical term there. More precisely, arthritis has buggered it for me. If it's not better in two weeks, I'm to return to my rheumatologist and pay an exorbitant sum for a corticosteroid injection.)

I'm seeing it again at the movies later, in glorious 3D (I secretly love 3D, it's just that it gives me migraines. Pre-emptive panadeine, wooo!) so hopefully I'll be more coherent later.

I was like, "Billie Piper can *act*! Who knew?!" *bows down*

I recognized Baker's voice before we even saw him. Then I choked and couldn't breathe.

Oh, Tom Baker, we'd all managed to keep it down until then and he spoke and we we woke the child.

I loved it quite ridiculously.

Especially the "Did you count them?" and Eleven saying no and looking yes, and oh my heart.

I haven't seen it yet and I am practically vibrating at the idea of scenes with nothing but John Hurt and Billie Piper sparring.

Everything was good and nothing hurt.

I rather wish she HAD had that kind of material. *wistful* I LOVE Nine as a Doctor, all to bits, but I have difficulty watching his era because Rose bores me silly. (Note phrasing: Rose bores ME silly. Nobody else is required to feel the same way.) Whereas if she'd been written with that kind of spark, she wouldn't so much.

Just finished work for the day and have watched it. ALL THE FEELS.
