End of an era!

I glanced at my DW reading page, saw a lot of consecutive posts from people announcing the deletion of their LJs, and then saw the bit where they are requiring users to accept a (poorly translated) (legally non-binding in translation) (apparently quite dodgy) new ToS.

I'm sure it's still a matter of closing the barn door long after the horses have fled, but in this case, I choose to think that I am the horse, and I have fled to Dreamwidth. (In this metaphor, maybe I just popped back to set the stable on fire? I'm not sure.)

I guess my gut feeling is that, while I will accept a certain amount of dodginess from an online service, there comes a point where it's all just too much ... dodge.

I think I'm finally deleting my account over there. It kinda hurts, but I think I'm done. This will probably be my main account over here and it will be mostly fandom stuff. And maybe I'll actually use it more?

I'd stopped crossposting, but now I've used LJ Sec to delete all my old entries (after using LJ Archive to download them all). I'm just using it for community moderation and commenting now.
