Horrifying news

Isa Briones of Star Trek: Picard was born in 1999. She turned twenty-one about a week ago.

I have fic on the internet older than she is!

I was gonna say that I feel old, but then I thought of all the people bitching and moaning about "CW Trek" (meaning that there are two actors under the age of 30 in the entire cast), and decided I had better things to do.

AUGH

SHE IS A BABY

OMG, what the fuck? Is reddit freaking out about this already? It stars PICARD! They got poker and Data singing and a lot of other details! Are they going to flip out because a GURL is in the cast? Are they going to flip out because it's not TNG? You couldn't MAKE TNG today.

....now that I think of it that was a nice touch, having Picard wake up from nightmares, and the poker game and the vineyard, since I think they were all in All Good Things.

Wait 'til you realize you're old enough to be an adult human's mother! It's the BEST.

Oh, good, more folks every bit as bad as the ones snarking about how Picard is true Trek, unlike Disco, the series starring a woman of color and featuring multiple women with speaking roles.

I started seeing those kinds of comments slagging Disco yesterday and I had to turn off the internet for a while. Now that Picard is here I'm sure Disco is going to be the DS9 of this era.

If I started having kids as young as my parents (mother in particular), she could conceivably be my child. That’s scary.

I think it's so nice that young people still care about the things I cared about when I was young.
