Amy! People say their relationship is maternal, but I think that's just because of River's age. They just seem to have so much mutual respect and admiration, and also they're fun together.

It's not perfect, but overall I like her ending in "Forest of the Dead". It feels right that a character who recognises and appreciates the stories of her own life should become a storyteller.

I know I joked about this in email, but if the 50th anniversary special consists solely of River being photoshopped into scenes from Classic Who, I'd really be okay with that.

Quite irrationally affectionate, since he was my very first Doctor. But also a little afraid. When I was young, I thought the Doctor was there to protect us from the monsters, and the companion was there to protect us from the Doctor.

I'm really glad the Cartmel Master Plan didn't go ahead, because that was rubbish.

I wish he'd had a slightly better death, even though I appreciate the irony of the master schemer being felled by something as unpredictable as gang violence.

I have trouble seeing Azula/Ty Lee as anything other than abusive, but I would like to think they can properly be friends if Azula recovers.
* My unpopular opinion about this character
I don't think she's actually a sociopath. I strongly believe that Ozai started grooming her as his own personal tool from the moment she started firebending, alienating her from her mother, encouraging her worst instincts and generally raising her to follow in his own personality disordered footsteps. So she has a lot of sociopathic traits, but they're learned behaviours/immature behaviours that were never checked. I don't think she'd be so devoted to her father, or so thrown by Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal if she were actually a full-blown sociopath.
Correspondingly, I don't think she's going to be in a long-term state of psychosis. Having been under enormous stress from early childhood, the realisation that she meant as little to Ozai as Zuko was the final trigger for a temporary psychotic break. Whether she can recover from both that and her childhood abuse depends on the care she receives and her own willingness to participate, but I don't see her spending the rest of her life in an asylum. Of course, whether she would want to be a subject of Zuko's is another matter all together.

I wish we'd had a little more time to track her breakdown. But that's a problem with the final half of the third season overall.

HE IS GREAT. And also the perfect supporting character, in that he's interesting in his own right, and has his own stories, but is ... supportive.

River, maybe? I like them as friends, I'm not sure I see them as more.

1. Spending 2000 years guarding the Pandorica was heroic and epic, not creepy.
2. Rory basically is the bisexual community of Leadworth.

I really hope we get an episode where he has to save the world, and his friends, all by himself. And I'd like to know more about his family.
Oh, and I also think there should be a thing where, every episode he has to wear a different historical military uniform. That would be GREAT.

I HAVE AS MANY FEELINGS ABOUT ZUKO AS HE HAS ABOUT ... EVERYTHING.
Well, not quite. But I do have LOTS OF FEELINGS. Like, I love that he seems like he should be really cool, because he's angsty all the time, but once he lets go of his emo, he's actually a great big goof. And I love that he's such a realistic and reasoned portrayal of an abused kid, whose choices are influenced by his terrible childhood, but who still takes responsibility for those choices.

Azula!The lack of Zuko/Mai/Ty Lee in the world is probably designed especially to oppress me. Likewise Zuko/Mai/Aang. I sometimes read Zuko/Sokka or Zuko/Jet, although mostly I feel like m/m slash has an overabundance of penises. I like the idea of Zuko and Katara, older and widowed, letting their friendship become more, but breaking up the canon couples for that ship feels wrong.But mostly, I ship Zuko/Mai, and a fic for any other pairing where Zuko's feelings for Mai aren't acknowledged gets a back button from me.
* My non-romantic OTP for this character
Toph! I don't ship them romantically, because I have a really, really hard time seeing Toph as straight, but their BFFery warms my heart. Also Katara, and ... really everyone. If there was a spin-off called "Random Characters Hanging Out With Zuko", I'd be pretty pleased.
* My unpopular opinion about this character
Zuko and Katara, as teenagers, would make a really terrible couple. It would end in explosions.

I understand the reasons why Zuko's reunion with his mother was cut, but I'm sorry we never got to see it.
