I LOVE HER. I also empathise with her. Is that strange?

TOPH! Mai! Ty Lee, sometimes! Zuko. Zuko and Mai.

* My non-romantic OTP for this character

I have trouble seeing Azula/Ty Lee as anything other than abusive, but I would like to think they can properly be friends if Azula recovers.

* My unpopular opinion about this character

I don't think she's actually a sociopath. I strongly believe that Ozai started grooming her as his own personal tool from the moment she started firebending, alienating her from her mother, encouraging her worst instincts and generally raising her to follow in his own personality disordered footsteps. So she has a lot of sociopathic traits, but they're learned behaviours/immature behaviours that were never checked. I don't think she'd be so devoted to her father, or so thrown by Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal if she were actually a full-blown sociopath.

Correspondingly, I don't think she's going to be in a long-term state of psychosis. Having been under enormous stress from early childhood, the realisation that she meant as little to Ozai as Zuko was the final trigger for a temporary psychotic break. Whether she can recover from both that and her childhood abuse depends on the care she receives and her own willingness to participate, but I don't see her spending the rest of her life in an asylum. Of course, whether she would want to be a subject of Zuko's is another matter all together.

I wish we'd had a little more time to track her breakdown. But that's a problem with the final half of the third season overall.
