Art dump: Romana, Martha, a Connor family Christmas, Benny, etc

Once again, I've come to the end of a sketchbook.  Some highlights, all in their rough form, ie a bit fail.

Photobucket

What is it about Christmas that makes people want to draw absurd festive scenes?  I wanted to draw Sarah and John decorating the tree with tiny Terminator skulls.  Of course, I'd forgotten that I can't draw trees, detailed scenes or skulls.  I'm a bit pleased with the likeness of Sarah, though, even though I'm not totally sure what she's looking at.

[livejournal.com profile] calapine posted "Merry Christmas, Brigadier" on Christmas Day, my time.  I was feeling all mopey because I was sick and my computer was broken, and then there was this fic that made me terribly happy.  So I promised to draw Romana in her Santa outfit with Martha.  And I did, and now (at last!) I have scanned it.

I didn't quite manage the beard.  Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] calapine. I think I failed a bit at pineapple hair, too.

Photobucket

No, I don't know either.

Photobucket

Well, she is.  (So that's where my black Sharpie got to!)

I feared I was getting into a rut with all this fan art, so I decided to attempt a straight photo-based portrait.  I'm pretty happy with the result, and will probably ink it as soon as I find my fine marker.

I did have plans to do a whole series of UK poplets, but got stuck on Lady Sovereign's hair.  And then I couldn't find any good photos of Kate Nash that showed her face, and Amy Winehouse ... let's not think about Amy Winehouse.

Photobucket

As promised -- or was that "threatened" -- ages ago.  This is terribly rough, and I'll probably need to draw a whole new clean version before I'm happy with it.  But there are bits I like, like Katherine Parr's hat and Katherine Howard's smile.

*bows* Thank ye! Martha's hugely fun to draw, even though pineapple hair is hard.

I totally want icons from your Six Wives one.

I'm a bit pleased with the likeness of Sarah, though, even though I'm not totally sure what she's looking at.

Obviously, they got Cameron to hang up decorations; she's doing it in some bizarre way involving dangling from the ceiling. Sarah chuckles at Cameron's strange ways.

Awesome pictures!

Six Wives for the win!

These are amazing. I would single out one that I loved but it would be a lie, because they are all amazing. And I think the pineapple hair on your Martha is ZOMGbrilliant, so don't be silly.

I love the Tudor wives drawing, and I don't think Martha's pineapple hair fails at all! It's perfect.

These are wonderful! I especially love Lily Allen and Romana in Victorian dress. And don't think the Romana one isn't good; you did a good job of making her look like Romana with a minimal number of pencil strokes.

As someone who has done academic research on Tudor costume, I find your chibi wives absolutely adorable. I also like the crosshatching detail on Martha's jacket. And Lily Allen is just win in general.

I STRONGLY RESENT YOUR CHARACTERIZATION OF JANE SEYMOUR

*flails* Eeee! The queens! So cute!
You've done quiet a good job of the dresses too (as long as I keep my inner costume Nazi bound and gagged in the corner). The Katherine Parr dress is my fav methinks, and the head pieces are really well done.

You rock! :D

Most excellent! Especially the wives...Tudor + cute is not a combination I ever thought I'd find myself admiring, but you've done it.

Oh my word you made Anne of Cleves really cute!

hi there, i am new to this whole "fan scene" thing. i found you while i was bored one night, i.e. not sleeping. I am curious, are these pice scanned from freehand drawings, or are they some sort of pc based drawing program generated?? either way i was happily enjoying the art untill my mother rang and i had to listen to how proud (not) she is of me. i guess if you could answer that they are scanned from freehand i'd like to hear that the most.. but either way, thanks i enjoyed it. K
