B5 Rewatch: "Grail" and "Legacies"

"Grail" was a first-view for me, since I skipped it on my first round. Why? Who knows. It had UNEXPECTED DAVID WARNER, which was a bit win. And an octopus-monster posing as Kosh -- it was like my birthday! Only in September!

It totally suffered from Too Much Guest Star, but when it's David Warner, I suppose allowances can be made. It was pretty average, though, and I probably won't watch it again.

UNLIKE "LEGACIES", WHICH -- okay, I changed discs and discovered -- TO MY HORROR -- that I have two copies of disc 5 and none of disc 4. This is an outrage! 'Cos, I like some "Chryalis", but I don't need two copies. And who knows what other substitutions have been made further down the line? I have a whole box of potential flaws! But I bought it from a reseller, who imported it from the UK, and I don't see that I can do much about it. Except, obviously, find the fanperson who got the box with two copies of disc 4, hunt them down and force a swap.

Anyway, "Legacies". I have a weakness for great big cloaks with hoods, so I was predisposed to love Neroon from his very first appearance. He was, mostly, in the wrong, but it still kind of hurts to see him being totally pwned by Delenn. It's one of my favourite stories for her, especially since we don't know for sure how much of her motivations are personal, and if she's even telling the whole truth. She says, for example, that Branmer changed castes fifteen years earlier, which would put it slightly before the start of the Earth-Minbari war. Neroon and Delenn both have tendencies towards zealotry, in their different ways, so it would have been interesting to have seen Branmer alive, to see what inspires such devotion from two very different people. That is to say, if fandom has not yet produced any Delenn/Branmer/Neroon fic, I am going to be displeased.

Oh, and there was some business with telepaths. And Sinclair, not very subtly, being all, "SO, I HEAR YOU SCANNED DELENN'S MIND. SEE ANYTHING INTERESTING? LIKE, SAY, ABOUT ME?" Bless.
