A worrying fact

Aside from a casting spoiler, I am almost totally unspoiled for the DW finale tomorrow.

This will be my first unspoiled finale since "Last of the Time Lords", after which I started seeking out spoilers in order to lower expectations. (Hint: if you knew from the beginning of the season how Donna's story was going to end, it really saved you the effort of getting attached!)

I mean, okay, I've seen a few things here and there, but they're all basically on the level of "...and Harriet Jones is the Red Dalek, and then Paul McGann appears in a flashback!" Which, okay, that was where I'd filed *****!Rory, so I've been wrong before, but seriously, I have very little idea of what's going to happen tomorrow. (And, fortunately, unlike after "The Sound of Drums", I haven't gone and invested in the idea that the finale will be any good at all, so that's okay.)

I really just hope, with only slight expectation of satisfaction, that it won't suck.

I was pondering why I wasn't excited for this episode despite liking the previous one rather a lot, then remembered exactly what RTD did to me with the last two season finales plus The End Of Time.

So yes, just hoping it won't suck.

I tried not to get excited but then I did anyway and then I read a whole lot of spoilers and now I'm both excited and dreading it.

I believe I am surprisingly unspoiled for "The Big Bang" because, frankly, there aren't many spoilers out there to be had.

I have been told that it is brilliant by someone who I know is in the know, so I'm trusting that it will be. I am stepping off the cliff with No Fear.

I am in this weird place where I am simultaneously jaded enough by the last ... oh, four finales? (is it four now since Parting of the Ways?) that I have NO EXPECTATIONS AT ALL, and this horrible desire for a GOOD FINALE where things actually come together and get wrapped up and are emotionally satisfying. Maybe I will pray to Santa for this?

I know no spoilers but I'm ridiculously excited due to Uncrushable Confidence that it will be awesome. Yes. There is no way that, after this season, it could possibly go wrong.

(The fact that I thought something similar about season three is completely beside the point.)

I'm almost blithely certain I will really like it despite everyone else's vague free-floating dread. It's a weird feeling.

I am sort of torn between thinking it will be awesome and worrying that it won't. I keep reminding myself that Forests of the Dead and Doctor Dances were good, but they weren't season finales, after all.

My fingers are sort of crossed that I won't end up wanting to throw things.

Me too! I am not used to being optimistic. I am not an optimistic person! Having even minimal expectations disturbs me, and yet I can't get rid of them!
