But I do think it's worth talking about whitewashing in Avatar fan art, and Tumblr seems to be the place where it all gets posted, so.

I still think Tumblr is a stupid place for serious discussion, though.

I think Tumblr is terrible for nuanced conversation about complex things. It's ok for "This thing is straightforwardly terrible for obvious reasons", which that picture is.

That's funny, I am white and mostly surrounded by white people, and yet it never occurred to me that the ATLA characters might be white. BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT.
