I haven't done a straight up Q&A meme in ages!  And there is a kitchen FULL OF DISHES crying out for my much-overdue attention, so I can't think of a better time!

1. Sherlock or Doctor Who

Oh, Doctor Who by a million miles.  Unless by "Sherlock" you're referring to this upcoming Kpop album:

In which case I'm open to be persuaded.  

2. Moriarty or the Master?

Isn't that like choosing between Madonna and Lady Gaga?  Anyway, the Master, because at least with him there's a reasonable chance I won't want to throw rotten fruit at his actor every five minutes.



3. Benedict or Martin?

I spent a good couple of minutes going "Martin who?", plus I really loved the Cumberbachelor in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, so Benedict wins.

4. Favourite Doctor Who companion?

WHAT KIND OF AWFUL QUESTION IS THAT?  I mean, the Romanas, obviously, but then Amy comes increasingly close to overtaking them!  And then there's lovely Martha!  And Barbara is just brilliant, and amazing to watch, and Ace was a very early inspiration, and I'm even quite fond of Mel in a way!

6. Favourite Sherlock character

Oh, fine. I really wish they'd ditched the whole Holmes and Watson business and given us a series about Irene Adler and Mrs Hudson and Molly Hooper fighting crime.  Like Charlie's Angels, only more sarcastic and clever.  Mycroft can be their Charlie, as long as Mark Gatiss promises never to write Doctor Who ever again.

7. Favourite Sherlock episode

"A Scandal in Belgravia"!  But I might be biased because it was the only one that didn't bore me.

8. Favourite Doctor Who episode story

"City of Death".  "Warrior's Gate".  "Remembrance of the Daleks".  "Battlefield".  "Amy's Choice".  "The Doctor's Wife".  "The Girl Who Waited".

10. Least favourite Sherlock character

...HOW DO I CHOOSE?  I mean, Sherlock is entertaining, but amazingly OOC in terms of the actual, literary Sherlock Holmes.  I don't hate Watson, he's just sort of there, like an old cardigan that you only keep because it's loose enough to go over your baggy winter pyjamas.  I guess my actual least favourite is Moriarty, though, because good God, what a twerp!

11. Least favourite Doctor Who character

Fifty years is a long time to accumulate some really awful characters, but I have to say, I can't get over how loathesome Ten was by his end.  I mean, complaining because your death (which you already knew was coming) would be caused by saving the life of a kind man who never hurt anyone?  REALLY?

13. Rose Tyler or Amy Pond?

14. Least favourite companion?

Tricky!  I mean, Peri suffers a lot from being written by misogynists, or at least men whose entire understanding of women had been formed by misogynists.  Whereas Rose's characterisation was in the hands of a talented writer who seems like a fairly decent person by comparison, and who is not incapable of writing good characters.  SO WHICH IS WORSE? 

15. Thoughts on Mycroft/Lestrade

Well, they're attractive, white, cisgendered men who may or may not have interacted ... ever.  So I'm guessing it's a popular pairing?

16. What do you think of Molly Hooper?

I wish she was Moriarty.  That would have been AMAZING.

I'm sorry, until Sherlock has Tom Baker and Mary Tamm and Janet Fielding and Peter Davison and ... do I need to go on?  Having said that, if Sherlock had all those people in it, I would totally stop Tumblr Saviouring it!

How's a person supposed to choose?!  Suffice to say that Lalla Ward is amazingly hilarous and bitchy when she's talking about anything other than religion (where she's just bitchy, and not in a good way), and Mary Tamm is just plain amazing, and Louise Jameson always seems like a really nice, professional person, and Sophie Aldred is lovely, and I could watch Matt Smith fail to dress himself all day, and Tom Baker is just plain odd, but you get used to that after a while... can I get back to you?

Re: 3. I'm still going 'Martin who?' because I have no idea.

I'm not sure how Sherlock vs Doctor Who is even a question really. I mean if nothing else when it comes to Doctor Who if you don't like the current going ons you just have to wait a bit and it'll change. Sherlock really can't say that.

If Molly had been Moriarty I might've watched S2. That would've been a nice change to explore.

Are they really going with Johnlock? That is just tragic. I understand the fandom does a lot of business on Tumblr which rejects the /, but can't they just be creative with ship names.

Re 14. I'd have to go with Rose. Peri gets redeemed a lot in the audios when she's not being written horribly. Rose is just kind of tragic in a way. So much potential and you can see her shine at times, but then she is regulated to Love Interest far too frequently.
