Remember that time Nick accidentally released the AtLA finale in Canada before the US, and there were spoilers everywhere, swiftly followed by wank? I wasn't in the fandom at the time, but I remember it.
Well, today it turns out that one of Nick's Latin American subsidiaries has put three episodes from the middle of book three online? Here, if you're wondering.
I have a theory.

Consensus is that the woman in the foreground is the Earth Queen. Note the strong resemblance to Lin. (In another screenshot, which is the woman alone, she looks even more like Lin, and ESPECIALLY like Toph's mother.)
My theory: Lin's sister IS the Earth Queen ... and she and Lin are actually half-sisters.
...
So I was about to hit post, but then I glanced at my refreshed Tumblr dash ... and found another MASSIVE SPOILER, specifically how Lin got her scars. And yes, that woman is her sister ... but now I'm wondering if she's possibly the United Republic's ambassador to Ba Sing Se?
At any rate, although I'm kind of discombobulated, because every single piece of Lin headcanon in my brain starts with the premise that she's a spoilt only child, I'm quite pleased to have a story behind her scars that doesn't (so far) involve Tenzin. (My least favourite iteration: that Tenzin injured her. There's a lot of guilt between them, but it's not about THAT.)

Date: 2014-06-08 03:22 pm (UTC)And then Mr. Toph (I refuse to believe he has a name other than that) moped a bit, then remarried. And Little Sister rebelled a bit and Lin had to take her down, but now she's all about straightening up and flying right and being Earth Royalty, since Big Sister Lin is all like "Dude, this is why I was raised up in a republic, Mom couldn't stand this royalty bullshit and neither can I."
Also, if they go to Ba Sing Se, I demand the offspring of Bosco to be hanging out around the palace.

Date: 2014-06-08 10:14 pm (UTC)I was at Continuum when this leaked. I had a panel in 40 minutes. I was genuinely afraid I wouldn't be able to go through with the panel on tie-ins and adaptations, and would instead re-enact the gif.
