T-minus 6 days to Star Trek: Picard!
Jan. 18th, 2020 08:45 amThat is, it's Saturday now; JLP will be hitting Amazon sometime on Friday for me; I'm excited.
But I'm also trying not to get too excited, because, well, I lost a lot of trust in the current Trek team after the final 20 minutes of the Disco finale. I'm trying to keep an open mind, and not attach my hopes to anything specific beyond "mostly good", and also if they can not blow up, impale or otherwise kill Michelle Hurd's character, I'd be very grateful because I suspect she's going to be my favourite.
(Hurd and Jeri Ryan basically wore the same thing to the LA premiere, so I ship it. The characters, not the people.)
A guy who attended the premiere claims that the first episode ends with surprise!Janeway. This has been ... sort of debunked? In that it's confirmed that he attended, but there are varying levels of certainty as people who also attended say that's not true. (Honestly, the lack of spoilers coming from the premiere is amazing, especially when you consider that we had the whole plot of the new Star Wars movie a month before it came out.)
Here are my feelings:

Here are my feelings:
- if Janeway appears, I WILL DIE
- it's true that Kate says she hasn't been approached, but Frakes and Sirtis said the same thing
- honestly, "Javid Iqbal" is proof that the current Trek people will go to extraordinary lengths to keep their secrets, and no conspiracy theory is too ridiculous
- except, obviously, the conspiracy theory that CBS has cancelled Discovery, they just keep on making it and promoting it so no one finds out it failed
- no, that's a real theory
- I'm not getting my hopes up
- at this stage I'll be happy if I can get through some media without a beloved admiral being blown up
- here are some real spoilers about what Seven of Nine is up to in this era, and there is some RICH POTENTIAL FOR FIC RIGHT HERE
- or canon
- canon is fine
