I have seen the Star Trek: Picard finale!

And I did not hate it! Although I have to admit that I'm slightly amused that (a) it took until literally the final 30 seconds of the season, but we had a confirmed queer regular; and (b) they're as bad at setting up queer relationships as het.

Anyway, I support Seven and Raffi; they will either be magnificent or disastrous together, and either way will probably rack up a body count. And from what we know of Seven's dating history, Raffi honestly represents a new high point for her! I mean, even blackout drunk, she's still more competent and interesting than Chakotay, amiright?

I hope we get at least one wacky "Seven and Raffi get married at Chateau Picard; Janeway and Picard wear matching Captains of the Brides outfits*; the Murder Parents get really into event planning; Rios attempts to hustle various ex-Voyager-and-Enterprise crews at poker but it's Soji who cleans them out" fic.

* Uniforms, they call them.

I still don't fully understand why Seven was in the series. Or Elnor, come to that. (MY BABY! YOU ARE AS DUMB AS A BRICK BUT I LOVE YOU!) But I'll allow it. Cannot begin to imagine what season 2 will be about (except, possibly, wedding planning shenanigans), but I think it will benefit from a more experienced showrunner.

If there were a just universe, and clearly there is not for any number of reasons, season 2 would be Chabon's original idea of Picard, Laris, and Zhaban investigating low-stakes crime in the village while tending the vineyard and presumably making delicious French food, and a Seven/Raffi wedding would be exactly the correct season finale.
