Things which make me happy in my face
Apr. 15th, 2009 10:38 am1. Is Lady Christina de Souza - played by Michelle Ryan - a 'typical' DW companion, if there is such a thing? Her name suggests that she's less of a Rose Tyler and more of a Lady Romana?
"There is a bit of Romana about her," Russell considers. "We did talk about that, because both Gareth and I have fond memories of those Mary Tamm and Lalla Ward days, when the TARDIS team would be like two aristocrats whizzing through space and time together - not something I'd risk with a full series, but that's why we can stretch our wings for these Specials. Having said that, Michelle's glorious, and I'm a bit sad that she won't get another spin with the Doctor."
(From DWM. To my mind it's a typically Rustyish misreading of the character; Romana is more properly a technocrat, and her status is less significant than the fact that she's an alien. But still: YAY.)
