lizbeeToday was quite excellent, but somehow I got home and found myself exhausted. I had a mole removed yesterday, and the local anaesthetic wore off around four this morning. So my sleep was disturbed, and then at work I was in pain every time I knelt or crouched. Turns out you spend a lot of time kneeling and crouching in a bookstore. And then there's ye olde arthritis.
Things which are good:
- Work kicked ass at achieving and improving on targets last week, so every person who worked then is getting a $50 voucher. I plan to spend mine on middle-grade and teen fiction.
- Harvey is making himself useful by catching and eating bugs. It's the circle of life, baby!
- I had some other points to list here, but OMG SO TIRED. Just assume that the good outweighs the bad, even if I'm too tired to remember any of it.
- Oh yeah, I finished a B5 fic last night. It's not very good, but that's what editing is for.
- Also, I just finished reading one crime novel full of sadism, manipulation, torture and murder, and started on another. Weirdly, crime fiction doesn't usually hit my triggers, mostly because I go in expecting such material. In fact, sometimes it's even cathartic, especially true crime. On the other hand, I couldn't finish We Need To Talk About Kevin, because it turns out that proper literary fiction about sociopathy gives me the shakes. As did Life With My Sister Madonna. Make of that what you will.
