Seriously, though, Clyde is just great. I love Sarah Jane and Luke and Rani, and Maria, but Clyde just walks off with everything.
Having said that, I wanted a Rani episode, and I got one. It felt a bit like it was left over from last year -- with all the bits about Maria, and Rani feeling left out, and returning to the town where she used to live -- but I really enjoyed it. Eve was amazing, and I got unreasonably excited when I realised she was a refugee from the Time War. I hope she meets up with the Doctor.She was also kind of hot.
I really do love stories where it turns out there are no villains, just people with different agendas. This is a sort of "Everybody lives!" episode, not that SJA is known for its body count, but there's that same feeling of mad glee, especially with the flash forward at the end. Only I have trouble believing that Rani married Luke; I shall choose to believe that she and Luke and Clyde have an Arrangement. (Seriously, though, I have this Thing for Luke/Maria, because Maria was the very first person he ever met. And can you imagine Rani's dad when she comes home and announces that she and Clyde are getting married? ENDLESS HILARIOUSITY.)
Also,UNEXPECTED PERTWEE AND BAKER. And lots of Maria flashbacks. I hope this means Yasmin Paige gets a cameo this season; I was really hoping she'd come back after her exams, but she's doing a movie, so I guess not.
Lis Sladen was not called to do much acting this week, which was probably a relief all around. Her husband seems much older than she is, but of course, she's dyed and a bit stretched, so it's hard to tell. DOCTOR NEXT WEEK I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I AM!

Date: 2009-10-24 07:25 am (UTC)See, I have been spoiled with pictures and I have this feeling that it will be more of Sarah Jane is nothing and her life is nothing without the Doctor, oh except she's filled the hole in her barren, nothing life with an adopted child what with her being barren and nothing and having a meaningless life without the Doctor.
I'm so cynical and untrusting. I wish they would keep RTD!Doctor away from my Sarah Jane.
