So there are ZOMGALIENS. And this would be very exciting and suspenseful, if you were maybe one of the two people in the world who hasn't seen the original. And the ZOMGALIENS are evil. We know they're evil, because they're TERRORISTS seeking to inflict UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE upon us all. Except obviously, those people in the world who already have it, but don't worry about them. V might like to pass itself off as an epic international series in the vein of Heroes or Lost, but New York is the only important place on the planet. Remember that time the aliens parked themselves over the Pyramids? Because there's, like, a city there. Totally.
Anyway, there are ZOMGALIENS. And there's a Catholic church in the inner-city, which somehow has two full-time priests, even though their regular congregation consists of a couple of junkies and a guy in a wheelchair (who obviously doesn't count). And the old priest (there's always an old priest and a young, handsome one. Unless it's Father Ted, because handsomeness ... well). Anyway, the old priest is all, TOTES THE VATICAN IS PRO-ALIEN. Later, they mention the ZOMGALIENS infiltrating religions, so the Pope? ALIEN. And the younger, handsomer priest is all, "How can I believe in God when aliens exist?" which is the sort of strawman you mostly see coming from writers who don't have much experience with religious faith. Wheelchair guy is healed by the ZOMGALIENS, thus fulfilling his narrative role.
Meanwhile, there are FBI agents. One is that woman off Lost who isn't those other women off Lost. She has a teenaged son, who needs a kick in the head very badly. Instead, he's off to join the Lizard Hitler Youth. Meanwhile, Agent Mom is investigating terrorists, in company with her partner, Alan Tudyk. Let's face it, we didn't even need a death pool there. Turned out he was a ZOMGALIEN. Curse his sudden yet inevitable betrayal!
Oh, and there's a black guy, but he's a ZOMGALIEN too. This is in no way dodgy, just like the health care thing is in no way dodgy. In short, THE ZOMGALIENS ARE IN NO WAY METAPHORS FOR THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. THIS IS IN NO WAY A REACTIONARY BATTLESTAR GALACTICA KNOCK-OFF.

Unfortunately for me, Morena Baccarin is really awesome, and you know how much I love all-knowing alien women with their own agendas. So yes, I'll be back. Possibly bringing the whole House o'Squid with me.
