NEWSFLASH: season 5 of Babylon 5 is about a million times better if you skip the telepath episodes. And "A View from the Gallery". It's like, "Wow, this curiously short season is not bad. Ooh, Bryon! Fast forward button!"

Also, it means you miss most of those tedious early episodes where Delenn is the Adoring Political Wife and also wears a lot of beige. (In all her interesting bits, she's back in colour. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.) Also,

I just derive an unreasonable amount of amusement from the bit at the end of "Learning Curve" where Delenn is giving Sheridan the cold shoulder because he didn't tell her he'd been married to Lochley. Because, while is indeed a bit of a failtastic omission, it doesn't really compare with those things Delenn doesn't bother to tell Sheridan until she absolutely has to. Like, oh, that bit where his beloved dead wife might be alive(ish). Or that time she started the genocidal war between their people. You know. Little things.

Seriously, that's enough denial to rival the Tenth Doctor. (And there's a pairing guaranteed to take over the universe, turn it inside out and upside down for its own good and then saunter off leaving sensible people like Martha and Ivanova to clean up the mess.)

I've also been watching The West Wing. I was a fan back around 2001, but I don't think I ever really appreciated or understood it properly. And then, halfway through the second season finale, some joker went and flew a plane into the World Trade Center, and after that I found I couldn't stomach gloriously idealistic portrayals of the American presidency.

So I'm trying again. And I'm definitely getting more this time, which is nice, but I'm also overcome with this massive loathing for Sam. Mostly because of the thing with Lisa Edelstein The Call Girl. Like the scene where he interrupts her with a client at dinner, intimidates her into leaving (whatever would Dr Brooke Magnanti say?) and then, when she says, "You scared and embarrassed me", answers, "I just want to be your friend!" A moment which, in a perfect world, would be interrupted by my appearing from off screen, punching him in the face, and running away.

Also, wow, but this White House is really white. Also, Bartlet should be high on Vicodin all the time; that would be entertaining. Like an AU where House is the President; not that I've watched House since 2006, or that I ever plan to watch it again, but still: that would be funny. Maybe Rob Lowe could guest star, so Cuddy could punch him in the face.
