This episode is referenced in the song "Mr Spock" by nerd-band Nerf Herder. It's about a nerdy girl who spends her time online, dreaming of Spock. The first few times I heard it, I thought it was an amusing song about girl fandom. Then I listened again, and found myself thinking, "Wow, you really hate this girl for rejecting your masculinist alpha-male ideal of violence," and got a bit scared. And how does she even know she wants Spock as a boyfriend? She might be wishing she had an Uhura of her very own, so she could dig out her pointy ears and act out an "Amock Time" AU. I'M JUST SAYIN'.
