If you're accessing the internet from 1967, the old excuse that you're a het-hating slasher because there are no good female characters may hold some weight. Prime example: Edith Keeler. The idea of Kirk falling for a Depression-era woman is interesting, but the way she's written and acted doesn't give us much substance. Being a mere woman, her futurism comes from feelings, rather than any intellectual foundation, and her best dialogue is with Spock and McCoy, not Kirk. Meanwhile, you've got Kirk and Spock sharing a tiny apartment, dealing with groceries and money and Spock's "hobby," and really, that's where the fun is. I've got to admit, I was quite bored by the rest of it.
Also, "As you can see, my friend is Chinese." WHAT THE EVERLIVING FUCK, 1967?
