I am playing Tori Amos. piecesofalice is playing Die Ärzte. suburbannoir is playing something that I don't recognise, but in six months all the hipsters will be into it.

Why yes, we are becoming stereotypes of ourselves.

ETA, 20 MINUTES LATER:

suburbannoir said, "Isn't it funny how our musical tastes encapsulate our personalities?"

So I serenaded her with "Day and Night" by Billie Piper, which was what was playing at that moment.

"Please stop singing," she said, as kindly as she could manage.

She was playing The National, a band who sing heartfelt indie songs about eating brains.

Ah yes, Conversation 16, off High Violet. It's a great new album, and a fab song: in fact, I think I'm putting it on my end-of-year xmas compilation CD.

Did she like Shearwater's new one?

I shall ask her when she wakes up. Unlike everyone else in the house, suburbannoir hesitates to inflict her music on the rest of us. Even though, as demonstrated, she has the best taste.
