I got home from work, and somehow it was like INSTA!BAD MOOD! Usually it's the other way around. But I sat down, and suddenly today's stomach cramps turned into hiccups, and then there was the casting call for the new Torchwood characters, and that was like RTD had sat down to create the maximum amount of fail possible. So no good mood for Liz! Maybe I'll feel better after I've had a shower and a glass of wine*.

In the meantime, let's all admire RTD's casting call. The new characters on Torchwood are:

- asshole white guy
- woman of colour who unrequitedly loves asshole white guy
- Roman Polanski





Things which don't seem to upset belly: lighter red wines, smoked salmon and marscapone pizza, strawberry and lime cider, frozen spaghetti bolognese, Arnotts Country Cheese crackers, raspberry and orange juice. Things which do upset belly: EVERYTHING ELSE.

I'll freely admit I expected the Owen and Tosh/Martha-retread. But Roman Polanski??? Wtf is wrong with Rusty's head that he'd think this was a good thing? Couldn't he "just" make him a murderer instead of a pedophile? How did the production company sign off on this? Oh god. Rusty's turning into Anne "I will have no editors tell me what to do" Rice, isn't he?

Re-reading Rex's character description... I'd say Rusty's just writing fantasy versions of himself. "He can't be defeated, he just becomes more arrogant! Love him or hate, he doesn't care, as long as you pay attention to him!"

I'm highly unlikely to watch whatever series of Torchwood results from this, but to be fair, every casting call I've ever seen has sounded that weird - it seems to be some secret industry way of getting the pool of actors they want for the part. I remember the one for Gwen from Merlin specified that she wore glasses?
