I made piecesofalice and suburbannoir watch the first three episodes of Avatar. They seemed to enjoy it. Funny bits were laughed at. Pieces toyed with shipping Iroh/Gran-Gran and boggled at how anyone could think that casting Jackson Rathbone as Sokka was a good idea. There was some dismay that we live in a world where Ken Watanabe did not play Iroh in the film. (I personally think he's a bit too young, but would make a marvellous Long Feng.)

It hasn't been too soon since that piece of shit hit theaters. I wish they would do another adaptation soon enough for Takei to be the Warden in "Imprisoned."

Having watched half the opening scene of the film, and then skipped around at random, I've found myself in the mood for a really good, subtle, respectful film adaptation of a beloved source. Time to marathon the first two Harry Potter films!

I was watching a preview of the Rifftrax the MST3K guys are doing, and at parts I was laughing at its ridiculousness, while at others I was just really, really depressed by its...well, by everything else. It's an emotional roller coaster of a film, I can tell! :(

I'm thinking I need to rewatch some old HP films, just for nostalgia's sake, before I go see the seventh one.

The worst bit is, I think Dev Patel as Zuko is really good casting, and with a better script, he'd have been amazing. And if they'd cast, y'know, Asians and Inuits as everyone else, then the only brown-skinned guys wouldn't be the villains and -- and it would still be a really poorly directed movie with a bad script. BUT DEV PATEL!

...Also, I'm weirded out by Cliff Curtis as Ozai, because not only is he not remotely bishie OR ... Ozai-ish, he is Maori. I guess there comes a point where any brown-skinned dude will do.

Dev Patel is six different kinds of adorable, and I think he could be a good Zuko (or Sokka! even though it's be awesome to see previously unknown Inuit or First Nations actors get the Water Tribe parts). Also I sort of want to watch TLA for Aasif Mandvi's epic scenery-chewing. Seriously, from the previews I've seen he looks like the dancing-est firebender ever.

I'm toying with the idea of knitting an Appa. I'd have to come up with the pattern myself, but it could be a fun experiment.
