FIC: Angelbending (DW/AtLA, G, crack)
May. 29th, 2011 09:21 amTitle: Angelbending
Fandom: DW/AtLA
Rating: G
Characters: Toph, Azula, the Doctor, River, Amy, Rory
Notes: So I was chatting to
bnharrison, and I had linked this art on Twitter earlier, and she said I should write fic about Toph fighting Weeping Angels. And somehow Daleks and Azula came into it, because where Toph goes, Azula follows, apparently.
Summary: Toph and Azula battle monsters. And it's great.

"It feels like stone," said Toph, "but also not stone. More like--"
"Quantum-locked neo-rock," said the Doctor. "Try not to blink."
"Yeah," said Toph, "about that--" She shifted, throwing her energy into the stone at her feet. In the distance, she felt one of the not-statues shatter.
Oh yeah.
*
"I like her," said the older woman told Azula, and the younger one with the red hair added, "Let's keep her."
They ducked back to avoid another shower of former-Weeping Angel. The Doctor procured an umbrella from a pocket and put it up.
"As the designated voice of reason," said Rory ("Like a designated driver," Amy explained unhelpfully, "only we let him drink, because it's funny") "I think we should deal with the homicidal statues before we start recruiting."
"There," said Toph, returning. She was covered in Weeping Angel dust, and looked unspeakably proud of herself. "Sorry, were you saying something about the most malevolent and dangerous beings in the universe?"
There was movement in the distance. A strange shape emerged from the shadows, a sort of man-sized tank. Cumbersome, Azula thought, but useful for a firebender. It was, as Toph was finding, invulnerable to rock.
"The! Inferior! Angels! Have! Been! Neutralised!" said the little tank, and Azula realised that it wasn't just a weapon, it was actually alive.
Toph was realising the same thing.
"No," the Doctor said quietly, "the life in that thing comes from a mutant, created to hate and destroy without mercy."
"Aim for the eyepiece," said River, but Azula wasn't listening.
Her lightning overloaded the creature's defences, and Toph's metalbending did the rest.
The mutant-creature inside spat and howled as it died. Azula watched, thinking that in many ways, her life had been easier before she'd learnt empathy.
*
The Doctor made terrible tea, Toph decided. It was too strong, and so bitter that everyone added sweeteners, and then diluted it with cow's milk. She took one sip, to be polite, and another, to prove the first one hadn't just been good manners, and then stopped.
Azula took one sip and said, "This is undrinkable," and went to make a proper pot of tea.
Toph didn't say a word as Azula brought the fresh pot to the table. She was saving it all up to tell--
"And don't you say anything to my uncle," Azula snapped.
Instead, Toph said, "So do you guys get attacked by stone and metal monsters often?"
"Oh, we get attacked by all kinds of monsters," said Amy.
"And you travel in time," said Azula.
"And space," said Rory.
"And you change history."
"No!" said the Doctor.
"Yes," said River.
"Sometimes," said Amy.
"It depends," said Rory.
"Whatever you're thinking," said Toph, "let's just assume it's not a good idea."
"I can see this is going to require ground rules," said the Doctor.
*
So Toph and Azula went travelling with the Doctor and his friends. Which was nice, aside from the time Azula set Alexander the Great on fire, and like Amy said, that could have happened to anyone.
