Avatar meme, day 9: Favorite Book Season
According to the comments at Mark Watches, season 3 was unpopular when it first aired, as there had been a nine month wait after the season 2 cliffhanger, and this raised certain expectations. (Shades of Harry Potter fandom between GoF and OotP?) Having gone straight from season 2 to 3 in a couple of nights, this is ... not my problem. I LOVE IT TO PIECES.
Objectively speaking, I can see that book 3 is not as well paced as season 2 -- it's more like season 1, with a certain amount of episodes that simply establish the new status quo and set up some long-term character development. And even with the extra episode, everything between "The Day of Black Sun" and the finale is rushed.
But I love it because it has my favourite situations (the heroes undercover in the Fire Nation! Zuko restored to his family and position, and completely unhappy about it! My OTP together! Not Uncle in prison, though, because you'd have to be a sadist or a relative to think that was a good situation) and also my favourite crack episodes, "Nightmares and Daydreams" and "The Ember Island Players".
SPEAKING OF MY OTP, which I wasn't, but I needed a segue, the Maiko Big Bang fics are being posted! Some look great. Some look ... okay. Either way, I regret that my new Kobo (old Kobo suffered an encounter of the liquid kind) was borked out of the box and has to go back to North America for a replacement. LONG FICS, HURRAH!
And speaking of big bangs, which this time I actually was, here's that awkward moment where no artist has claimed your story. *weeps*
