Word from Comic-Con is that the chief of police in Republic City is Toph's daughter.

I hadn't actually realised how attached I was to my fanon of Toph being a great big lesbian until I read that. I mean, I have certain ideas about Toph and Azula's sexuality, being that Toph is exclusively interested in women, but Azula's sexuality is more fluid, mostly because she grew up with the expectation that she would marry a man and produce heirs.

Now I have to re-jig that a little, and lo, I am pouting.

Although, the prospect of Toph and Azula as parents is ... well, hilariously terrifying. The poor girl will be in therapy for years. THEY WILL BE THE BEST PARENTS EVER, AND NO FORCE IN THE UNIVERSE CAN STAND IN THEIR WAY.

In less fanon-breaking news, apparently Republic City was founded by Zuko and Aang (bless), Tenzin is married with kids, and a second season has been confirmed.

IS IT 2012 YET? I SHAN'T POUT TOO MUCH ABOUT MY FANON! I JUST ASSUMED THAT PART OF THE CANON WAS MORE CLOSED THAN IT ... IS.

We don't know anything about a father at this point, do we? You could assume the daughter was adopted until proven otherwise.

Oh, my goodness this is awesome. Because either:

1) Toph and Azula took her with them on fabulous crime-fighting adventures and rescue missions, or

2) Their combined sociopathy pushed her to respect law and order.

Also, there is a fic with a subplot where Toph and Azula want a child and ask for Zuko's...assistance:

The Northern Water Tribe has apparently devised a way to conceive babies without the need for actual intercourse, with the help of waterbending,” Azula explained. “You wouldn’t need to have sex with Toph. Not that I would let you, anyway.”

Well, Toph and Azula could have two daughters, with one going into law enforcement and one following in the semi-underworld wild doom-and-destruction footsteps of mommy Toph. Now the Bei Fongs control both law and crime in Republic City, and Toph and Azula are the two old ladies who really rule the place, screw whatever prissy government Twinkletoes and Zuzu installed.

Azula Bei Fong... Mmmm.

I'm guessing this might be the daughter in question (the pic appears in the section on metalbending cops, her uniform seems a lot fancier than the usual, and something about her really reminds me of Poppy Bei Fong). Personally, I can't wait :D
