(belated) I am so glad that he's back! I worried about him, because it's a cruel world out there sometimes for cats. I hope this has been a learning experience and he doesn't decide to go walkabout again.

Is there much chance that he could have either been trapped somewhere and only just made it back, or do you have any nasty cat-hating neighbours? When I was younger a friend had her cat go 'missing' and they found out later her neighbour had grabbed him and driven him 50km out then dumped him without his collar.

anyway, I am very glad he's home again only a bit worse for wear.
