(I mean, I love Katara, too, don't get me wrong. But not with quite the same heart-eyed Ty Lee-esque enthusiasm I have for Mai.)
Oh, I love Katara too, and it really hurts the way she becomes less trusting over the series, at the same time as her brother is learning to open up more. But Mai was the first of the female characters to move into my soul.
