SJA: "Sky"

1. If Sarah Jane is deceased in canon (and I always feel weird about characters persisting after the deaths of their actors, even though it's obviously stupid in cases like Doctor Who, for irrational and inconsistent reasons that don't actually bear scrutiny), then I choose for Sky to be fostered by Amy and Rory.  Not as a replacement child-that-was-a-weapon for their child-that-was-a-weapon.  I just figure they would understand.  And they have experience with strange little girls.

2.  Speaking of children-that-are-weapons, having Sarah Jane unilaterally decide that Miss Myers was an unfit parent/decanter of explosive children was kind of awkward.

3.  Also awkward:  the terrible acting.  Both Miss Myers, and also the little girl playing Sky is no Caitlin Blackwood.  (I'm so terrible at judging ages, too, that I find it really hard to believe that the actress is 13 and the character is 12.  She looks much younger!)

4.  So the Shopkeeper and the Captain are exiled Time Lords, right?  And one day the Captain will have his revenge on the High Council for forcing him to regenerate as a parrot before he was sent off on his own without a TARDIS.  Man, and Three thought he had it bad!

5.  I was kind of hoping that, now there's a younger child for the actual target audience, Clyde and Rani would be allowed to hook up.  Both of those actors are great.  And then Tumblr had screencaps of Anjli Mohindra in being sexy in her knickers in some other show, and I was like, "THAT IS WRONG!  SHE IS BUT A WEE ... OKAY, SHE'S 21, BUT STILL."

6.  On a related note, it is weird to think that Daniel Anthony is only a couple of years younger than Matt Smith.  Also, if bodily possession counts as playing a character, he is the first person of colour to play the Doctor, last year in "Death of the Doctor".

7.  Less related:  last night I saw the British movie Submarine, which has Yasmin Paige in a lead role.  She was really good!  And so was the movie!  But it was kind of weird to see her swearing so much.

8.  ACTORS:  TURNS OUT THEY ARE NOT THE CHARACTERS THEY PLAY.  Yes, I'm amazed, too.

9.  When is Luke going to come out?

I agree about Sky. Sinead Michael played Gillian, the daughter of Enid Blyton, in a TV movie a couple of years ago. The much more talented Ramona Marquez played Blyton's other daughter, Imogen.

I spent all of the Sky episodes drawing parallels to River and thinking that Amy and Rory would be a great choice for raising Sky - and like you I wasn't looking at it as a replacement, but that they have experience at dealing with unusual teenage girls.

Sky irritates the life out of me! But as you said, the actress in no Catlin Blackwood, and the writing is not near as good.

Isn't Daniel Anthony actually older than Karen Gillan? I want him for team TARDIS so bad! He and Matt Smith would be a great comedy team!
