SO BASICALLY, THE NEW AVATAR COMIC IS LEAKING LIKE A SIEVE

WHICH IS TO SAY, AMAZON'S LOOK INSIDE FEATURE HAS PROBABLY NEVER SPARKED THIS MUCH TUMBLR ACTIVITY.

Where the spoilers live.  More pictures have been emerging, and will probably continue to emerge.  I strongly recommend Tumblr Savioring "The Promise" if you don't want to be spoiled.  Or, indeed, if you don't care. 



I'm a wee bit miffed that ALREADY I have to adjust my Tophzula fic to account for the new info like Toph running a metalbending school.  (Luckily, she doesn't seem too keen on the exercise, so I don't have to completely change her entire situation.)  On the other hand, I am madly in love with Kori.  Any teenage girl who tries to assassinate Zuko in his pyjamas is okay by me.  (What's that?  I should ship her with Azula?  YOU'RE RIGHT, I SHOULD.)

Also, the scene is set for (a) hilarious Zuko/Suki/Ty Lee fics AND (b) extremely dubious fic about Mai ~~~helping Zuko get some rest~~~.  Obviously I want no part of such shenanigans, and have not opened a new GoogleDoc.

ALSO, the bit where Zuko asks Aang to end him was AMAZING AND SCARY, even though now everyone's going to think the bit in my Tophzula where Azula asks the same of Toph is a rip-off.  OH WELL. 

AND, FINALLY, BECAUSE ZUKO APPARENTLY CAN'T GO MORE THAN A FEW MONTHS WITHOUT DOING SOMETHING STUPID, HE GOES TO HIS DAD FOR ADVICE.  WITH TEA.  That's obviously supposed to have the reader thinking he's gone to Iroh -- well, that's what I thought -- which raises serious questions like, UM, IROH, WHERE ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU LETTING YOUR NEPHEW PULL STUNTS LIKE THIS?  At this point, EVERYONE in that family is due for a face punch.  Well, not Azula, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.  Dickishness is genetic, apparently.

THIS IS SO COOL. Sifu Toph, hell yeah! More Ozai! Kyoshi Warriors! Aang and Zuko and their Feelings! Hopefully there will be some Azula as well. When two dangerous ladies gather, a third must appear. There must always be three.

I don't think Azula has featured in any of the scans yet, but she was mentioned in a library visit the writer did.

I'm sure Jee is secretly glad that his lessons did eventually sink in.

Having gone to Ozai for advice, the next step in Zuko's descent o'fail is surely Azula.

Well, I think he always knew that was going to be the case.

Also, I tweeted yesterday about having a weird dream where Avatar was adapted as a live-action K-drama? (Actually, it was more like a collaboration between Korean, Japanese and Chinese networks, the CCP somehow having not noticed that the hero is essentially a Tibetan monk.) Anyway, for some reason they had Cha Seung Won playing Ozai, and his fangirls were REALLY ANGRY that he was playing slightly above his age, and for some reason didn't care that he never wore a shirt. But we did suck Pieces into Inappropriate Ozai Crush Land, so we were happy.

Curmudgeon away! I'm happy that the colony issue is being addressed (I'd sort of guessed that it would have to be) and that Zuko isn't magically free of abuse survivor behaviour like seeking the help of his abuser, just because he has friends and power and a nifty cape now.
