I believe they've already started! But I'm reserving judgment, with a vague preference for Korra/Mako and a strong desire for Korra/Lin.

I'm also reading meta about how there are no proper Asians in Avatar, and I think it is actually intended as an anti-racist post, so really I have enough stupidity in my life right now without adding a shipping war?

I think there's something to be said about A:TLAverse being USAmericanized*, but I don't think that's the same as 'you must be this asian to count'.

*Like I wish there were more Asian voice actors, and possibly some with Asian accents that was not used as a joke. And sometimes I wish the main cast all had dark brown eyes, instead of blue or green, but I wouldn't say that made a character 'less asian', necessarily.

Yeah, I feel like there's a lot to be said about the AtLAverse as an Asian-American product (and that's a conversation I'm not remotely qualified to participate in), but saying "X has power and therefore cannot be Asian" is failing anti-racism forever.

I (usually) don't do sibling ships. (There are exceptions: like how in Disgaea 4 Desco is Fuka's "sister" because Fuka's dad built her I'll read/see Azula and Zuko doing anything at all, and also my incest squick works for that pairing.) However, I *can* ship threesomes-plus that *include* siblings if the siblings aren't paying (romantic) attention to each other. So if Bolin and Mako were both in love with Korra (but not each other), that's how I'd do it. /Tera logic

I see that logic, I just can't quite get there myself. Whereas my usual (strong) incest squick apparently takes a holiday where Zuko and Azula are concerned, because their family is just that dysfunctional, and also Egypt was cited as inspiration for the throne room, and you know what the Egyptian dynasties were famous for.

I want Korra to have brotherhusbands (as much as I can want anything at this point i.e. before the show has even really aired), but I don't ship Mako and Bolin together in that!! For me it is a POLY situation, but not a THREESOME.

THIS WAS ALL EASIER WHEN I KNEW HOW THE SERIES ENDED! There's a lot to be said for watching things three years after they finish airing.

I'm not opposed to Korra/Mako/Bolin, but I think I'm gonna wait until we've gotten a few more episodes to decide on shipping. I mean we'll probably be getting a bunch of new characters what with them being in a city and all.
