It's actually turning out a lot harder to write than I had expected. Stupid characterisation and stuff.

Characterization (and stuff) is such a pain. Especially when they're like: "Can we end the story now? Yeah, let's do that" and you're like: "No, we have maybe 500 words left" and they start talking really awkwardly out of spite. Or when you're like: "Please let me not make so-and-so a huge woobie!" over and over again. Or person A says something really awesome (or obnoxious) and person B is like: "Let me think of a comeback!" and never returns.

Yes! Sometimes I find the dialogue just grinds to a halt while I stop and have a serious think about how to respond to what I've just written.
