I think I forgot to mention here that, after four and a half years, yiduiqie and I decided to close down No Award in December. So my Disco posts have moved to my new-old personal blog, which is now at squiddishly.net.

ANYWAY. In which I take strong issue with a plot development, completely rethink my stance on a popular Lorca theory, talk about Sylvia Tilly, ambitious women and stereotypes, barely even get started on costumes, and update the jerk rankings. Oh, and point out the most obvious "twist" since that time Ash was a Klingon.

Jason Isaac's Scottish accent was pretty good, though.

I enjoyed the Reddit debate between a bunch of Glasgow Trekkies about what breed of Edinburgh wanker he sounded like.

I think he was trying to do the same accent as Simon Pegg (who basically does a West Lothian accent, in keeping with the beta-canonical idea that Scotty is from Linlithgow*). Which would make him a west-of-Edinburgh suburban wanker, I suppose....

* as opposed to alpha canon, which is wildly contradictory, and it's not like you can draw any conclusions from whatever the hell James Doohan was doing.
