Confirmed: Michelle Yeoh will be leading a Discovery spin-off focusing on Section 31.

Intriguingly, the showrunners are Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt -- Kim is the first person of colour (and, I think, the first non-American? Definitely the first who is not from an Anglophone country) to run a Trek, and together they're the first young female showrunners. They seem like nice people; maybe more importantly, they wrote "Into the Forest I Go", which for me was one of the highlights of season one.

Incidentally, the Picard series notwithstanding, Yeoh is the oldest actor to lead a Trek series. And the hottest.

I'm about to finish my tea, switch off my computer and leave for Brisbane, but now that reveals are up, I can mention that I wrote "Rainfall" for the Cornwell Fanworks Challenge -- StarfleetBrat requested Kat talking to Amanda, set between "The War Without, The War Within" and "Will You Take My Hand", ie, BEFORE the happy ending. It was a great prompt, and I hope I did it justice.

I just heard about this and I'm excited! TBH if you'd asked me a couple years ago if I'd be interested in a Section 31-focused Star Trek, I'd probably have said no, but with Michelle Yeoh as mirror Georgiou as the lead, I'm very much interested.

I have only recently seen the first season and while I should probably go "argh, I read spoilers in an article," I am instead going... "O.M.G. Mirror Georgiou Section 31 I AM IN LOVE."

My feelings about most of the spin-offs that have been announced or rumored so far are... mixed, to say the least, but this one? This I can really be excited about. ♥

I was moderately excited about a Picard series but this is A M A Z I N G. I didn't even look to see which Georgiou it's about, I'll watch any and all of them or Michelle Yeoh playing a different character, I don't even care.

Am I the only one who thinks they might be putting the cart before the horse with so many spin-offs so quickly. We've got Discovery with a barely established identity and now we're also getting a Piccard spin-off, MU Georgiou's spin-off and two or three others. I love the idea of an expanded Star Trek universe but with some of the problems they've had with Discovery maybe it would be better to slow down and plan one show at a time. (also I assume they killed PU Georgiou because they couldn't afford her for a full season so this is oddly disappointing).

I agree. It feels like they're counting their chickens before they hatch. Discovery's first season and backstage drama were a mess. Can't we focus on improving Discovery for a less bumpy season 2 or 3?

At least MU Georgiou is something completely original and not piggybacking off TOS or TNG.
