Ugh, I hadn't even thought about what it meant for Anakin's story, but you're totally right. And now I'm even more irritated. I suppose once I saw the Dark Force rising Final Order fleet I just mentally put it in the same category as the old EU novels and comics.

But really, this speaks to the fact that despite the fact that JJ Abrams is allegedly such a huge Star Wars fanboy, this movie he made…really undercut so much of the OT, and didn't do just basic Star Wars things like the side wipes. It's really unaccountable to me how he was allowed to run roughshod over eight previous movies of material in so many ways.
