Summary: House has a run-in with karma, or possibly the just-world phenomenon, or possibly irony.
Warnings: Language. Cameron. Stacy.
Spoilers: Nothing in particular.
Notes: If I explained the circumstances that led me to write this, you wouldn't believe me. I would also have to kill you.

"My mother always said adversity built character," said Stacy, watching an intern flee.

"No," said House, "it reveals character. Turns out that under that gentle façade, I'm a cranky old bastard."

"I'll try to cope with the shock."

If that doesn't someday become a scripted, canonical exchange, I'll eat my hat. Some lines are just inherent to the character, waiting for the right circumstance to be set free.

Some lines are also deeply hysterical. ;-)

I really liked this -- it was different from the majority of House fics that I'd read before, and that is always a plus.

Brilliant and so in their voices.

I really like this one. The dialogue is very in character, and the whole setup is hilarious. The ending kind of bothers me though - I feel like there should be something more, but I'm not sure what.

Thanks. And you're right -- the ending frankly sucks, just a little. I was hoping no one would notice if I didn't draw attention to it, but I could not find the natural conclusion to the story, short of House sending Cameron to enact an elaborate revenge on the nursing staff.

See, there it is. She just kind of stops him in his tracks. I liked this a whole hell of a lot.

Nice! (Which House isn't. Serves him right, getting written into a nice story.)

He paused. "That's a threat, by the way."

So much lovely dialogue.... (Is it scary that I find Cameron sweet?) Now I want to know what House does to get revenge on the nursing staff. And whether he has to testify against the psychopath. And the circumstances that led you to write this. Are you going to do an epilogue?

I want to read this. I really do. I want to even more after reading the comments. But, sadly, my home computer doesn't like your website and my school computer filters it. If it isn't too much trouble, could you possibly e-mail me the text. Please.

There's just no better way to say it: Cameron is evil and must die. And House/ Cameron is an affront to good people the world over.

Okay, now we've got that out of the way, your House is still gorgeous. Well, gorgeously written. Even your Cameron is - well, is almost - likeable.

And I love you for this:

"...This was just cause and effect working in combination with psychosis. Or maybe just irony, if you're into Alanis Morrissette."

"I'm not."

"I'm amazed."

BWA HA HA HA!!!

Now go write something sensible. Like House/ Wilson. *g*

this is lovely. i am not amongst the legion where neither "cameron" or "stacy" need be in the warnings, which may make me part of a very small (VERY SMALL) minority. but your cameron is sweet and snarky and devoted, and your house is stupid and gentle and mean. and while house/cameron might be the work of the devil (a proposition i don't fully believe), i still love it a little.

short version: very, very nice.
