Guys, please tell me to stop buying books.  Unless I find a really awesome secondhand bookstore.  Seriously, it's getting a bit much -- I grabbed a biography of Elizabeth Taylor and The Girls of Riyadh from a remainder bin the other day, then I found a book on modern girl culture called Princesses and Pornstars for $9.99 at work, and seriously it's getting a bit out of hand.

Alternatively, if you have any books you don't want anymore, I'll take 'em off your hands for you.

I blame LibraryThing [link missing as the server is currently robust] for making it so fun to add titles.  My library there has hit 300andsomething books (including a few DVDs), but my final boxes of books never made it down from Brisbane.  I'm in a state of frustrated book-adding.

The problem with my overflowing box of "free to a good home" books is that I can't recommend any of them (except the few that are duplicates).

Yes, I had the same problem when I was trying to sell off some of my excess. "This was quite good, except I didn't finish it and don't want it in my house." Knowing the customers rather short-circuits my bookselling skills.

What do you have in the box, though? My taste is ... eclectic.

Um, I don't remember? It's a box, and it's full of books.

See, I'd say 'don't buy more books', but it would be hypocrisy. I'm moving to another country next week, and even that didn't stop me randomly buying three books I saw walking past a second hand bookshop....

Books? I've got a giant box full of books that don't fit in my midget bookcase. I'm going to get rid of them sooner or later. Most of them are good books, but they don't beat the ones in my bookcase, and I don't want to end up building towers of books around my room again.

I can't tell you to stop buying books, because that would make me a hypocrite of the first order. Have you tried thrift shops and yardsales? I find them an excellent way to feed my addiction without blowing my budget.

My book addiction is causing space issues as well.

Did you ever try book trading sites like Bookmooch?

Whether this is actually interesting or not I don't know, but I like to boast, so I'll tell you that Emily Maguire, author of Princesses and Pornstars, is my sister. Cool huh?

That is pretty awesome. I haven't done more than flip through it yet, but it looks good. I'm looking forward to reading it.
