Is Karen Gillan, as of twelve minutes ago. She was one of the soothsayers in "The Fires of Pompeii", but other than that, her resume is about as long as Matt Smith's. (Or Freema's, or Billie's before they joined DW.)

I am totally cheap, and without knowing anything about the actress or the companion she'll play, I like her purely because she has red hair.

That quote read better the first time, when my eyes accidentally skipped over 'them' and just saw "little boys will want to be her too."

I wonder if the "Scottish drama Rebus" that she started out in is an adaptation of Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus mysteries.

That Moffat quote makes me deeply suspicious, actually. Maybe it's just because I tend to be impatient with the idea of a generation of little boys wanting their female counterparts to be Shiny New Companion rather than, you know, themselves. Since obviously a character that Moffat creates will be far superior to little girls' natural personalities. :P

I have to say that I'm also not thrilled about a 26-year-old Doctor and 21-year-old companion. It makes me worry that there will be lots of woobie emo romance. :/
