1. There's a new YA novel at work about a teenage nerd-girl with a crush on deceased physicist Richard Feynman. I spent the other week surreptitiously flipping through it, and then kept thinking about it on my week off. I think I should maybe buy it and read it properly.

2. Three episodes of Babylon 5 in a night is maybe too many.

2a. You know you're onto a good thing, fandom-wise, when Neil Gaiman is writing the filler episodes.

2b. Have to say I cheered when Byron left in a ball of fiery death. At some later point, I shall make a proper post about the problems with the telepaths: PsiCorp is bad, but rogue telepaths seem generally untrustworthy or unreliable also. I shall seek out some meta later.

2c. I am curious as to how much of Lennier's hostility towards Delenn's marriage is subliminal inter-species-marriage-squick.

2d. After all these years, I am slightly weirded out to learn that the old rumour that Claudia Christian had auditioned for Seven of Nine was actually true. And I have to say, I'm so glad she didn't get the part. And not just because of my old girl-crush on Jeri Ryan.

3. I went to bed feeling normal, and woke up to find my ankle sore and slightly swollen. Have I sprained my ankle in my sleep? File that under "things that can only happen to Liz".

4. The enamel was coming off my giant red hoop earrings, so I painted in the gaps with nail polish. Don't judge me.

5. I think maybe I've become a willing Tool of the Man, because I'm reading a book about Disney's business practices, and in the chapter about their OUTRAGEOUS AND UNREASONABLE expectations for theme park staff, I kept going, "Yes, but that's standard customer service! I do it all the time!" On the other hand, I think the grooming requirements are worded in such a way as to exclude anyone who doesn't conform to Eurocentric gender-normative notions of beauty. So I'm not a total lost cause, and will probably be only third or fourth against the wall when the revolution comes.

OMG is it me?

The chance is high that the truth lies in the fashionable direction. But, on the off chance that it is in another direction — a direction obvious from an unfashionable view of field theory — who will find it?
