lizbee: (Random: Miss Piggy is weirdly hot)

My flatmate is a film student!  A rather good one!  A film she edited was shown at the St Kilda Film Festival this year.

Being a film student is kind of expensive, so she has a Kickstarter-style fundraiser.  In her words:

Do you have like, 25 cents lying around in the bottom of your bag, or in the couch, or, more helpfully, something over $1 stored electronically? Then you should support this film thing I am trying to make. There are rewards and shit.

To which I add, the House o'Squid will not be complete without a full-sized medical mannikin of our very own.  THINK OF THE CAT-RELATED HIJINKS!  And also, Erin does good stuff, and is, like, good.  And stuff.

lizbee: (Avatar: Fire Nation huddle!)
I was planning to have a totally productive day, but instead I put on Janelle Monae, turned the volume up and opened TV Tropes.

Yeah.

You know that meme where people posted the "Better Than It Sounds" summaries for their shows, and people had to guess the show from the slightly skewed description? I'll cut the guesswork; TV Tropes offers three descriptions for Avatar:

- A heavily tattooed kung-fu Dalai Lama, his Inuit pals, a blind Chinese loli of mass destruction, an angry burn victim and some animals that don't exist (but should) take on Luke Skywalker and his army of arsonists who wear giant shoulderpads.
- Or A disfigured Troubled But Cute teenage arsonist chases and harasses underage boy to please Luke Skywalker, gets his butt kicked repeatedly and is dissatisfied when he finally wins.
- Alternately, a cheerful and brightly-colored children's show about child abuse and genocide.

I know people keep saying that Mark Hamill voiced Ozai, and his name is there in the credits so it's probably true, but I still have a hard time believing it.

SWITCHING FANDOMS! A scene bridging "The Eleventh Hour" and "The Beast Below"!

"So you're like a space squid or something?" OH AMY, ONLY IN MY DREAMS.

It's like, 5.30 and I've done NOTHING! Except my laundry. And I watched an episode of Mad Men and went through some old Photobucket pictures. Most of them dated from around 2006-2007, the time I was living with [personal profile] weaverandom and she was obsessing over some stupid Nickelodeon cartoon and telling me that I like totes had to watch it because she'd love it, only there were massive gaps between episodes and then she watched the end of the second season and spent, like, two days shouting at some fictional character called Zuko. Good times, man, good times.
