I don't know about anyone else, but I've been kind of mourning the lack of batshit in this election. Aside from the now-disendorsed Liberal candidate who declared himself the voice of God, there's been a general reluctance to break out the crazy sauce. Or even the interesting sauce.

But tonight, that all changed. As I left the station this evening, a smiling middle-aged man thrust a leaflet into my hand. The front looked like this:

With a beginning like that, I knew it had to be good, so I accepted it with thanks, quickly skimmed it, then rushed home to share it with the internet.

(...that was a couple of hours ago. I had to shower! And eat!)

Oh, oh, I know them! They're the LaRouche people who protest Obama being President - in Melbourne. They want Australia to have some massive number of people to go along with their economic policies. Still, I'd vote for them above Family First!

That sure is some quality batshit you have there! Population control != culling people.

I am in Peter Costello's old seat, so all we ever get is form letters from the woman who replaced him. Nobody else even bothers.

Anglicans: like Jesuits, only more so!

Oh God. I suppose it's not quite as stupid as the stuff about the Fabians, but that's still so bloody daft I don't know where to start...

That's just...wow. Incredible.

Is it bad that after twenty years of squeeing every time someone even says the words "federal election", I just want this one to be over already? I seem to have lost my political squee. :(

That is just... You should have to pass an intelligence/sanity test before being allowed to run.

We received mail from our local member today, I've wondered a couple of times during this term whether Ruddock was still alive.

Ha ha, this is great! I deal with completely mad people through work who are all like WE MUST STOP THOSE SELFISH WOMEN HAVING BABIES ESPECIALLY THOSE AFRICANS WHO SHOULD JUST USE WILL POWER IN THE ABSENCE OF CONTRACEPTION, so it's good to know the other side can be crazy too!

There was a similar leaflet against the proposed Multi-Function Polis at the 1990 election - in the Division of Deakin, where my family lived at the time, the leafets said "Vote Lamb for Jap City". Tony Lamb was the Labor candidate and the leaflet contained a number of xenophobic and racist slurs.
